Okay, kids, I'mma put my foot down here.
Humanizing the cast of Cars is okay, and even encouraged. HOWEVER, one does not need to make them all lithe willowy bishonen. The King need not look EXACTLY like Richard Petty, but for the love of PANTS, he shouldn't look 17.
Of course, Doc Hudson is one of the characters that gets overlooked ANYWAYS. Because he's a grouchy old man. But I like grouchy old guys. So I took it upon myself to draw him humanized, and do it RIGHT. Thus there was a little research put into the concept.
Doc Hudson as the car was pretty sleek and classy, thus he'd be handsome as a guy. A little heavyset and ponderous to the current age, but strong. The front grillework is clearly a mustache, and the way his windshield is divided seems to suggest glasses. As for his hair, I was going for kind of a toned down version of a 50's greaser cut called a Quiff, because he was a racer in his younger days, and probably something of a hotshot himself. The blue vest was an attempt to reference his original paintjob, but apparently makes him look like he works at Walmart.
And yes, I'm aware of how awkward those folded arms look. Time to start studying anatomy again...
Didn't occur to me until you brought it up. Other than that, brilliant work! You're right about previous Cars humanization attempts. Research pays off, this is just how I'd picture him.

I pictured his hairline being lower, but this hits him really well. Lord knows that Doc is not supposed to be a teenage prettyboy. Just the thought of that is freakin' scary.
The best humanizd version of Doc ever ! Because of course , the same thing with The King goes for Doc and every other ... ow can i put this without sounding insulting ... car with many miles on them . Yeah , lets go with that !

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

How many years since you found yourself
Staring at an endless sky?
Unaware of yourself
Who you are and where you're going
Only living
Only breathing
Losing all sense of time
I have to say that Doc is my favorite character from the movie! I kinda wish he had more screen time..
Anyway, good job! I love it!
